Project Highlights

Creating Interoperable Communications for Disasters and Terrorism Events

Federal agencies have incredible resources for dealing with disasters and terrorism events, both in terms of equipment and information. But they’re not the first on scene, and first responder capabilities vary widely from town to town. When voice and data equipment can’t dependably communicate with federal equipment or with other jurisdictions, public safety can be compromised.

Under subcontract to SAIC, Redhorse supported the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center, Pacific and the Department of Homeland Security in providing technical assistance to state and local public safety organizations for the prevention of, response to, and recovery from terrorism and disasters, particularly those involving chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, or explosive incidents.

Redhorse team members supported integrating voice and data information in real-time interoperable communication across disparate systems and provided technical support and assistance to public safety and first responders for voice and data interoperability. Redhorse efforts included providing needs analysis, solutions, implementation and interoperability, and program support to the Colorado River Indian Tribes.
