Energy Management

The Redhorse team has comprehensive energy management capabilities to help customers plan, identify, develop, and implement effective energy conservation and efficiency initiatives, projects, and programs.  Specific areas of expertise include:

• Strategic Planning:  Analyzing customer operations, policies, and procedures and working with customers to develop clear goals and key performance indicators
• Energy Auditing:  Conducting preliminary and detailed energy audits to identify and develop energy efficiency and conservation projects
• Resource Efficiency Management (REM):  Providing on-site energy and resource experts to reduce energy consumption, GHG emissions, and operating costs at customer facilities
• Demand Management:  Providing load management and shedding strategies through use of smart meters and smart grid technologies
• Retro-Commissioning:  Improving how building equipment and systems function together and building operations and maintenance (O&M) procedures to enhance overall performance
• Rebates and Incentives:  Securing federal, state, and local tax incentives, utility rebates, and grants to maximize the economic viability of projects

Renewable Energy

Redhorse provides turnkey support for renewable energy systems, from initial resource assessment and environmental due diligence to investment-grade feasibility studies and system installation. We bring experience in assessing and developing renewable energy systems, including photovoltaic, solar thermal, wind, micro-hydro, geothermal, biomass, and Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion.  Our expertise includes:

• Renewable Resource Assessment: Screening renewable energy resources and preliminary technical and economic feasibility assessment
• Feasibility Studies: Conducting detailed evaluations and conceptual designs to assess the technical, economic, and environmental feasibility of renewable energy systems, including siting and permitting, equipment specifications, life-cycle cost and sensitivity analysis, and valuation of environmental attributes
• Strategy and Acquisition Strategies: Developing renewable energy acquisition strategies and consulting on alternative financing, power purchase agreements, enhanced use lease, and other contracting mechanisms
• Energy Security: Working with customers to integrate renewable energy and other on-site generation resources to improve the resiliency and sustainment of the energy infrastructure to minimize loss of mission-critical power from natural disaster or acts of terrorism

High Performance Buildings and Operations

Redhorse consults with customers to develop and implement business solutions that integrate sustainability into the building design and operation process, optimize energy performance, and protect and conserve resources. Specific areas of expertise include:

• Energy Simulation and Modeling: Conducting whole building energy simulations and modeling to optimize building performance while controlling costs
• LEED Consulting and Certification: Supporting the full life cycle of green building certification, from initial planning and goal setting to documentation and certification submittal for new construction and conducting gap analysis to evaluate the feasibility and estimated cost of achieving Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification for existing buildings
• Design Review and Commissioning: Reviewing design and construction documents, conducting construction inspection and documentation, and acting as the lead commissioning agent to ensure building efficiency and systems that operate as designed

Water Management

At Redhorse, we assist customers to better use their water resources by applying our expertise in water conservation and efficiency, water accounting, and water reuse and recycling strategies.  Specific areas of expertise include:

• Water Management Plans:  Developing water action plans and strategies for water conservation, reuse, and recycling in buildings, industrial facilities, process water, and irrigated areas
• Water Audits:  Conducting water conservation and efficiency audits to identify and develop water conservation measures to reduce water consumption
• Water Accounting and Leak Detection:  Analyzing existing water usage data to effectively measure and manage water consumption and identify leaks in water distribution systems, unauthorized water uses, and other unaccounted water losses
