Climate Change Services
Redhorse is helping customers understand the impact of climate change on their facilities, operations, and employees. These impacts include both the physical, regulatory, and economic risks associated with climate change as well as the opportunities to develop and monetize carbon assets. We tailor our climate change services to each customer's needs, whether from mandatory regulatory requirements or voluntary sustainable development to corporate social responsibility goals.
Greenhouse Gas Asset Management
Redhorse recognizes the diverse needs clients have in managing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, whether from mandatory regulatory requirements, voluntary sustainable development, or corporate responsibility goals. We have developed a set of tools and services that can be tailored to each individual client to address the specific GHG management needs. Whether it's understanding the science and emerging regulatory framework, preparing a GHG emission inventory, developing GHG reduction strategies and management plans, managing risk, or monetizing carbon offsets, we have a solution. We apply our multi-disciplinary and multi-sector experience to develop efficient and effective strategies, provide guidance and advice, and implement successful business solutions to meet the GHG management requirements of our clients.
- GHG Emission Inventories: Preparing GHG emissions inventories and assisting customers in reporting GHG emissions in accordance with established inventory protocol, while institutionalizing the process of calculating the carbon footprint to meet future reporting requirements
- Carbon Offset Development: Helping customers to identify and develop carbon assets and validate carbon offsets and other environmental attributes
- Training and Regulatory Consulting: Educating and training customers on climate policy, regulations, and markets. We work with customers to develop strategies to reduce the impact of current and pending climate change legislation on operations and company value
Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions
Redhorse helps customers to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through strategic planning, development of sustainability business practices, and implementation of carbon offset and sequestration projects. We take an integrated approached to reducing an organization’s carbon footprint. We apply expertise and best management practices to improve energy efficiency, develop renewable energy resources and alternative fuels, and reduce water and other resource use. We implement business solutions that integrate and leverage synergies across all organization assets and operations.
- GHG Management Plans: Developing action plans that incorporate GHG mitigation policies, goals, performance metrics, specific initiatives and projects, and timelines
- Renewable Energy Action Plans: Assessing renewable energy resources and developing implementation strategies that address technology selection, economic returns, and funding and contracting alternatives
- Carbon Offset and Sequestration Projects: Supporting development and validation of projects that offset and sequester GHG emissions
Climate Change Adaptation
Organizations around the world are experiencing unprecedented challenges posed by climate change. Increasing flooding, drought, heat waves, rising sea level, and erosion and loss of land threaten fresh water and food sources, infrastructure, health systems, ecosystems, and national security. Understanding how the impacts of climate change will affect the world around us and integrating this understanding into the decision and planning process are critical to make better decisions and to effectively adapt. Decisions about development, infrastructure, public safety, and security will all be affected, whether for good or for ill, by climate change. Redhorse brings a strategic, science-driven approach to apply business solutions that improve the adaptive capacity of our customers’ organization and assets. By understanding, planning for, and adapting to a changing climate, Redhorse helps our customers take advantage of opportunities and reduce the risks of climate change.
- Adaptation Strategies: Developing strategies to improve the resiliency and adaptive capacity of customer assets in response to the risks posed by climate change to their natural, built, and human assets
- Vulnerability Assessments: Applying anticipated climate change scenarios to existing customer built, natural, and human assets to assess their sensitivity and resiliency to projected impacts and their overall vulnerability to climate change
- Decision Support: Developing actionable analysis using risk management approaches that incorporate the estimated consequences of a climate change impact, the probability that the impact will occur, and customer risk tolerance and values
Sustainability
Resource constraints, costs, regulatory, and customer perception drivers require our customers to implement integrated sustainable business solutions that improve economic returns, leverage synergies across energy, environmental, and transportation operations, and reduce environmental impacts. We help customers develop effective sustainability business programs, projects, and initiatives and help develop goals, metrics, and performance tracking requirements. We apply macro-metrics to assess overall organizational sustainability and to position customers for future GHG emission regulatory drivers.
- Strategic Sustainability Planning and Management: Providing strategic advice and specialized expertise for improving resource efficiency, reducing the amount of waste and GHG emissions, enhancing corporate social responsibility and reputation, and improving performance and profitability
- Sustainability Audits: Conducting comprehensive sustainability audits focusing on cost savings through waste reduction, process optimization, and conservation and efficiency improvements across customers’ natural, built, and human assets
- Transportation Management: Providing transportation solutions to ensure regulatory compliance as well as cost savings, including fleet optimization, alternative fuels analysis, and commuting reduction programs
- Integrated Waste Management: Reducing waste, increasing recycling, improving operations, and saving money
- Behavior Change and Capacity Building: Training staff to build sustainability into ongoing practices, increasing awareness, and developing recognition and reward programs
