Preliminary Siting and Design Criteria for a Natural Gas-Fired Generating Facility, Private Developer

Redhorse provided environmental and air quality services to identify preliminary siting and design criteria for a 300-MW, natural gas-fired, combined cycle generating facility.  We conducted initial modeling to evaluate whether emission rates and operating constraints were sufficient to keep the subject project below the Major Source applicability threshold.  We also conducted a screening-level analysis of ambient air quality impacts using the U.S Environmental Protection Agency (EPA’s) AERMOD atmospheric dispersion model at two potential locations to assess the ambient air quality standards and Prevention of Significant Deterioration (PSD) increments for the applicable pollutants.  The results of the analysis were used to support the application for a permit to construct for the generation plant.
