Electrical and Controls Engineering, Logic and Software Support for a Prototype Pyrolysis System

Under a contract to Qinetiq, UK., Redhorse provided electrical and controls systems engineering support and material logistics support for the installation, trials and operation of an experimental Pyrolysis System at Fort Irwin, CA.   The Pyrolysis system consists of a feed mechanism, a pyrolizer and a generator. The self-sustaining automated Pyrolysis processor uses organic waste products from cafeteria facilities as a fuel source to  power a generator which generates and returns energy into the local grid. Redhorse provided both on-site and remote support, performed troubleshooting on the electrical system, controls system and software, and sourced spare parts as needed. Redhorse engineers worked with the vendor's UK-based engineering team to resolve software and systems controls issues, acquired software updates, loaded them into the control system and helped restart the system. Electrician support was also provided to identify and correct system wiring deficiencies.
