General Services Administration Great Lakes Region – Detailed (Level II) Energy and Water Audits

Redhorse conducted energy audits at three federal buildings to identify, analyze, and document Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) and to meet the auditing requirements in Energy Independence and Security Act Section 432.  The audits integrated analysis of all economical energy conservation measures, including recommended changes in operation and maintenance and renewable energy projects.  Recommendations included optimization of controls for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) and central plant equipment, lighting and controls upgrades, air handling unit heat recovery, solar water heating, and installation of high-efficiency boilers.  Energy savings were calculated using eQUEST models and spreadsheet analysis for each building.  The buildings audited included:

  • John Seiberling Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse in Akron, Ohio — 425,400 square feet
  • Bricker Federal Building in Columbus, Ohio — 259,200 square feet
  • Custom Cargo Inspection Facility in Detroit, Michigan — 79,200 square feet
