Community-Wide GHG Emissions Inventory for the Gila River Indian Community (GRIC)

Working in collaboration with GRIC and EPA Region 9, Redhorse prepared the community GHG emissions inventory for GRIC.  The inventory was prepared in accordance with standards established by the World Business Council on Sustainable Development/World Resource Institute (WBCSD/WRI), an internationally recognized authority on climate change measurement and verification, and with protocols developed by EPA.  Redhorse calculated the community-wide GHG emissions using methodologies prescribed by WRI and EPA and segregated emission sources into three areas: (1) direct emissions; (2) indirect emissions; and (3) other emissions.  Redhorse developed a GHG inventory plan, collected direct and indirect emissions data, calculated GHG emissions, and established an ongoing strategy to collect and document GHG emissions.  The GHG emission sources for GRIC included on-site combustion of natural gas, mobile emissions from transportation, indirect emissions from electricity use, and other emissions from industrial, agricultural, solid waste, and other fugitive emission sources.
